Drip, drop, drip, drop. It was a rainy morning. The sun was just waking up. Yawn! The city streets were wet. The air smelled like yummy, warm bread from the bakery. Mmmm.

Darius, Kylan, and Marcus went outside to play. They saw water on the ground. “Look!” said Darius. “A big, giant puddle!” It was the biggest puddle ever. It looked like a tiny ocean.

“Let’s jump!” shouted Darius. Darius jumped in. SPLASH! Water went everywhere.

Kylan jumped in. PLOP! He made a happy sound. Marcus jumped in. BOOM! He waved his arms and legs. Splish, splash, splosh! They were having so much fun.

Suddenly, they heard a little laugh. Hee hee hee! It was a funny little Gnome with a pointy hat. “Wow!” said the Gnome. “You are good at splashing!”

“Who made the biggest splash?” asked Darius. The Gnome smiled a big smile. “The best splash,” he said, “is the happy splash! You are all winners!”

“Yay!” cheered the children. They held hands and danced in the water. Spin, spin, spin. Suddenly, a beautiful, colorful rainbow appeared in the sky.

The children were happy and tired. They went home to their warm, dry beds. Their hearts were full of joy. Splish, splash… hush. Goodnight, little splashers.
