A Gentle Story about a friendship and how the warmth of friendship can make any new place feel like home.
Ace was sad.
Everything was new.
New house.
New street.
New town.
“I don’t want new things,” said Ace.
Ace wanted to play inside all day.
But Mommy said, “Let’s go for a walk!”
The snow went crunch, crunch, crunch under their boots.
Crunch, crunch, crunch.
Down the street they walked.
Past one house with twinkly lights.
Past another house with a snowman.
Past another house where children played.
“Hello!” said a little girl with curly hair.
Her name was Maja.
“Do you want to play?”
Ace looked at Mommy.
Mommy smiled.
“Go ahead,” she said.

Maja was building a snow castle.
“Help me?” she asked.
Ace helped.
They made the castle tall.
They made the castle strong.
They gave it a door and windows.
“It’s beautiful!” said Maja.
Ace smiled.
Another child came over.
And that made everything better.
His name was Jordan.
“Can I play too?” he asked.
“Yes!” said Ace and Maja.
They built more castles.
They made snow angels.
They laughed and played.
The sun started to set.
The sky turned pink and orange.
The twinkly lights came on.
“Time to go home,” said Mommy.

“Can we play tomorrow?” asked Ace.
“Yes!” said Maja and Jordan.
That night, Ace looked out the window.
The new house didn’t feel so new anymore.
The new street didn’t feel so strange.
Ace wasn’t sad anymore.
Ace had new friends.

The End
