A five minute bedtime story of Brer Rabbit for preschoolers.

“Uncle Remba,” said the little boy, “what has Brer Rabbit been doing today?”

“Well, Child, it all started this morning. Brer Bear and his family were out for a walk. Brer Rabbit hopped into their cozy house to look around. Brer Rabbit is curious.

Well, somehow or another, that rascally rabbit knocked a bucket of honey off a shelf. Brer Rabbit was soaked from head to toe in sticky, sweet honey!

But that’s not even the silliest part. He tried to clean himself by rolling in the leaves and twigs on the forest floor, but they stuck to the honey.

By the time he was done, he didn’t even look like a rabbit anymore. He looked like some kind of walking, talking bush!

When Sis Cow and her little pig friends saw him hopping through the woods, they let out a “Moo!” and “Oink!” and ran for the hills!

That’s when he got the idea to have some fun with his new leafy look. He hid in the bushes and waited for Brer Fox and Brer Wolf to walk by. When the “Bush Rabbit” jumped out shouting, “I’m the Wull-er-de-Wust, and you’re the ones I’m after!” Even Brer Fox and Brer Wolf were so scared that they ran away as fast as their legs could carry them.

Brer Rabbit scared Brer Fox

Brer Rabbit giggled as he washed himself in the brook. Even the littlest critters in the forest can play clever tricks.

So, the next time you find yourself in a sticky situation, remember that a little laughter can go a long way.
