Under five minute elephant story inspired by Babar for preschoolers.
Alphonse the elephant was so excited! His wife Esmee was going to have a baby elephant. Would it be a boy or a girl? Would it have big floppy ears like him? Alphonse couldn’t wait to find out!
One day, Alphonse told all the elephants in the village, “When the baby comes, the big bell will ring! One big DING! for a new baby.”
Esmee saw how excited Alphonse was getting. “Why don’t you go for a bicycle ride? Get some fresh air!” she said with a smile.

Off went Alphonse, pedaling fast! Whoosh whoosh! But then, far away, he heard the bell – DING! DING! DING! Three bells? Why three? He raced home as fast as he could!
Alphonse ran inside, out of breath. Esmee smiled big. It wasn’t one baby elephant—it was THREE! One, two, three tiny trunks waving in the air. Alphonse was thrilled!

One day, the big brothers took the babies for a ride in their stroller. The babies giggled and bounced. They liked stroller rides. But uh-oh! Big brother Emile saw a funny dog and let go of the stroller! Down the hill, it rolled FAST! – wheeeee! – with the babies inside!
One baby bounced right out of the stroller! Up, up, up he flew and landed in a tree! He was scared, but brave Mr. and Mrs. Squirrel helped him stay safe.

Then, a tall giraffe came to the rescue. Baby elephant stepped onto the giraffe’s head and slid down his neck! Safe and sound, he went back to his mama and papa.

From that day on, everyone knew that three chimes of the bell meant TRIPLE the fun with the baby elephants! And they all lived happily ever after.
