A preschool story of building relationships
Under five minute story for preschoolers.
Lucas loved visiting Grandpa Bob on his farm. Firefly Farm was full of green grass, big trees, and friendly animals. Grandpa Bob’s workshop was Lucas’s favorite place. It smelled like wood and had so many cool tools!
One day, Grandpa Bob said, “Lucas, it’s time to build something special! A house for the birds!”
Grandpa Bob showed Lucas all the tools. “See this saw? It helps us cut the wood. This hammer helps put the pieces together!”
Grandpa Bob showed Lucas how to use a saw. “Swish, swish,” the saw went, cutting the wood. Then, Grandpa Bob showed him how to use a hammer. “Tap, tap, tap,” went the hammer, putting the pieces together. Lucas worked hard. He held the wood while Grandpa Bob sawed.
Sometimes, Lucas got a little bit tired. “This is hard, Grandpa,” he said.
Grandpa Bob smiled. “Things don’t always go how we want,” he said. “But we can be smart and try our best! Building things takes time. Just like the birds build their nests, one twig at a time.”

Finally, the birdhouse was finished! It was beautiful, with a little round door for the birds. Grandpa Bob and Lucas hung it on a tree.
Lucas and Grandpa Bob sat on the porch with warm drinks every morning. Soon, a bluebird came, then another, and another! They flew in and out of the little door.
Grandpa Bob said, “Lucas, we didn’t just build a birdhouse. We learned that working hard feels good, even when it’s not easy!”
