Under 5 minutes stories for preschoolers.
Once upon a time, a little cloud named Nimbus lived in a cozy corner of the sky. He wasn’t like his puffy, bouncing brothers and sisters who played tag with the wind and made shadow bunnies. Nimbus was quiet and shy, preferring to peek at the world with sleepy eyes from under a fluffy blanket.
One sunny morning, a playful sunbeam tickled Nimbus awake. “Why so glum, Nimbus?” it chirped. “Don’t you want to play?”
Nimbus snuggled deeper into his blanket. “I’m too small and gray,” he mumbled. “Everyone will laugh at me.”
The sunbeam patted him gently. Every cloud has something special. The blue sky needs gray just like a chocolate chip cookie needs chocolate chips!”
Curious, Nimbus peeked out from behind his fluffy friend. Wow! The world stretched out below like a giant quilt, all green and sparkly with silver ribbon rivers. Tiny houses with red and yellow roofs peeked out like shy bunnies. And above it all, the big, beautiful blue sky!
Suddenly, a gentle breeze whisked Nimbus away, sending him higher and higher. He bounced and giggled, chasing his fluffy friends. They painted rainbows across the sky, spun cotton candy castles, and raced the wind to see who could make the funniest shadow shapes.

Nimbus, no longer shy, puffed and swirled his gray edges, making playful shapes of fluffy sheep that scampered across the blue. He learned that his gray wasn’t a shadow. It was a unique color that added depth and mystery to the sky. Nimbus was gaining confidence.
As the sun started going to sleep, painting the sky orange and pink, Nimbus felt a happy warmth in his heart. He realized that being different is lovely! He understood he was a one-of-a-kind brushstroke in the world’s most beautiful painting.

With a happy sigh, Nimbus curled up into a soft, sleepy cloud and drifted towards the moon. As he drifted off to sleep, he whispered a thank you to the sunbeam and all his friends. He knew that tomorrow, he would paint the sky with his own unique shade of gray, and the blue would be even more stunning because of it.
So, next time you look up at the sky and see a gray cloud, remember Nimbus. Remember that every cloud, even the smallest, quietest cloud, makes the incredible, diverse masterpiece our world is.
