Join us for lessons in science as Cory the Cortisol, a tiny superhero hormone living in the body, helps a young student handle the stress of giving a class presentation.
High up in Kidney Towers, in the bustling Adrenal Gland Apartments, lived a very special hormone named Cory the Cortisol. Cory wasn’t like other residents of the body โ he was a superhero hormone with amazing powers!
Every morning, Cory would wake up early, stretch his molecular arms, and get ready for another exciting day of helping the body stay healthy and strong. You see, Cory had a very important job: he was the body’s stress manager and energy champion!
“Good morning, Body!” Cory would say each day as he zipped through the bloodstream. “Time to wake up and get energized!” As he zoomed around, other hormones would wave and cheer. “There goes Cory,” they’d say, “always ready to help!”
One particularly busy Tuesday, Cory was enjoying his morning patrol when suddenly, the Body Alert System started flashing red!
“ATTENTION! ATTENTION!” boomed the System’s voice. “Emma has a big presentation in class today, and she’s feeling really nervous!”
Cory immediately sprang into action. “Don’t worry, Emma!” he called out as he activated his super-powers. “I’m here to help!”
First, Cory sent extra energy to Emma’s muscles, making them strong and ready. Then, he helped her heart beat a little faster, making sure her whole body was alert and prepared. He even gave her brain a special boost to help her think clearly!
But as Cory worked his magic, he noticed something important. Emma’s worry meters were getting a bit too high. “Hmm,” thought Cory, “too much stress isn’t good for anyone. Time for Plan B!”
Cory remembered his training: “When stress is high, it’s time to try… the Relaxation Revolution!” He pulled out his special Calm-Down Chronicle and started reading Emma’s options:
1. Take deep, slow breaths
2. Have a drink of water
3. Think happy thoughts
4. Move your body gently
5. Talk to someone you trust

Just then, Emma’s best friend Sarah walked over. “Are you okay?” Sarah asked. “Want to practice your presentation with me?”
Emma smiled and took a deep breath. As she started practicing with Sarah, Cory watched his stress meters return to normal levels. “Perfect!” he exclaimed. “Sometimes the best medicine is a good friend and some deep breaths!”
After Emma successfully gave her presentation, Cory settled back into his patrol route, feeling proud. “Remember,” he announced to all the body’s cells, “I’m always here to help in tough times. But don’t forget โ you have the power to help too! With good sleep, healthy food, exercise, and taking time to relax, we can work together to keep our body happy and strong!”
That night, as Cory headed back to his apartment in Kidney Towers, he smiled. Being a stress superhero wasn’t always easy, but helping people like Emma made it all worthwhile.

“Another successful day,” Cory yawned as he climbed into bed. “I wonder what adventures tomorrow will bring?”
The End
