A story retold from the tales of Brothers Grimm.
Thomas, the baker, worked hard all day, making yummy bread! But one day, he had a special loaf. It was shaped like a heart and shiny like gold! This bread wasn’t for eating – it was for a big adventure!
Thomas wanted to visit his dad, who lived far away. He packed the big loaf of bread and started walking. Oof! It was a very long walk. He wished he was as fast as a bicycle! Then he saw a happy man whizzing by on a bike. “Trade you my bread for your wheels!” Thomas said. The man smelled the bread and said, “Yes!”

Whizz! The bike was so much fun…but then, CRASH! Thomas and the bike fell into the bushes. Luckily, a farmer came by with a donkey!” Trade you my bent bike for your donkey,” said Thomas. The farmer said, “Deal!”

The donkey was strong but oh so slow! Thomas wanted to be home. That’s when he met a gardener with a bag of tiny seeds. “Trade you, my donkey, for seeds!” he said. The gardener loved the idea. She gave Thomas all her best seeds!
Holding the seeds tight, Thomas hurried home. His dad hugged him big! They planted the seeds, and soon, the garden was full of yummy food and pretty flowers. Thomas learned that a life journey can start with something simple, and good things always blossom in the end!
