A short story about growing up, coming home again, and finding comfort in familiar places

Under five minute story for preschoolers.

Nigh Ox and Off Ox lived on a farm. They liked to eat the yummy green grass after a long winter. It was springtime, and everything was warm and happy!

“Do you hear that?” said Nigh Ox. “Our friends are coming!”

Off Ox stopped eating. “I don’t hear anything,” he said.

But then… “Tweet, tweet! We’re home again!” It was the swallows! They had been away all winter.

The barn swallows come home again.

The swallows landed on the barn and talked about faraway places. Two young swallows found an old nest.

“This was my home,” said the girl swallow.

“Let’s make a new home!” said the boy swallow. They flew off to find mud and straw for their nest.

An old swallow told stories about flying far, far away! He flew over big lakes and saw lots of new places.

When the sun started to set, all the animals were happy. Nigh Ox and Off Ox were sleepy after a long day. The horses closed their eyes. The swallows went to sleep in their nests. Springtime was the best time ever!
