When the forest feels too fast and silly, Serenity the Fawn learns how to give her quiet feelings a big, warm hug. This calming bedtime story helps little ones transition from playtime energy to sleep time peace.

Anthony the Owl sat high in the Great Oak Tree. He had soft, fluffy feathers. Fluff, fluff, fluff.

Anthony looked at his friends with big, kind eyes.

“Hoo-hoo,” hooted Anthony softly. “It is time to be calm. It is time to be kind.”

But the forest was feeling very silly!

The bunnies went hop, hop, zoom! They jumped fast in zig-zags.

The squirrels went wiggle, waggle, shake! They danced in the leaves.

Everything was too fast. It was a very wiggly day.

Serenity the little Fawn watched the wiggles. She had big, sweet eyes.

“I want to be calm,” she whispered.

Serenity walked slowly through the trees. Step, step, step.

She met a wise, old Wolf. He was sitting very still.

The Wolf said. “Sometimes we feel the Big Wiggles. We want to zoom and shake.”

The Wolf took a slow breath. “But sometimes we feel the Soft Calm. We want to rest and be gentle.”

“I choose the Soft Calm,” whispered Serenity.

“Then take a deep breath,” said the wise Wolf. “And let the Calm in.”

She took a deep breath. In… and out.

She felt safe. She felt soft.

“I like the Soft Calm, But how do I keep it?”

“Give it a big hug,” said the wise Wolf.

Serenity thought about the Soft Calm.

She closed her eyes and gave her quiet feeling a big, warm hug.

Serenity saw a turtle taking slow steps.

“Hello, Turtle,” she said gently.

She shared a sweet berry with the turtle. Yum, yum.

“Shh,” whispered Serenity to the bunnies. “Let’s be soft. Let’s be slow.”

The bunnies stopped zooming. They twitched their noses.

The squirrels stopped shaking. They sat on the branches.

Everyone took a deep breath. In… and out.

The forest was quiet. The forest was kind.

High in the tree, Anthony the Owl smiled.

“Good job,” he hooted.

The wiggly day was over. The moon came up.

Goodnight, kind forest. Goodnight.

Calm and Kindness
