This enchanting growing up story speaks directly to children’s innate desire to grow and transform.
One morning, Marlow walked on a path through dancing leaves in the warm sun.
Marlow felt unsure. She kicked a little pebble and sighed.
Then she saw a green caterpillar, round and fuzzy, sitting on a big rock!
“Hello!” said the caterpillar. “Would you like to be my friend?”

Marlow smiled. “Yes! I would love to be your friend.”
“Come sit with me,” said the caterpillar.
The caterpillar smiled. “Are you lost?”
Marlow shook her head. “I’m not lost. I’m looking for something.”
“What are you looking for?” the caterpillar asked.
“I want wings,” Marlow whispered.
The caterpillar nodded. “Then you need to weave them.”
“How do I weave wings?” Marlow asked.

The caterpillar handed her soft, shiny thread. “Weave your dreams. Weave your wishes. And weave your hope,” he said.
Marlow thought about her favorite dreams and started to weave. She added her mommy’s songs, her daddy’s hugs, and the laughter of her friends.
“Don’t forget the moon!” the caterpillar said with a giggle.
Marlow wove in the moon’s soft, silver light.
When she was done, the caterpillar smiled. “Now, let it go.”
“Let it go?” Marlow asked.
“Yes,” the caterpillar said. “Trust it.”

Marlow took a deep breath and let go.
She felt warm and quiet like being wrapped in a blanket. When she opened her eyes, the caterpillar was gone. In his place was a little pool of water.

Marlow could see her reflection. She clapped her hands. “I have wings – beautiful, strong wings!”
The breeze whispered happily, “You are ready to fly!”
Marlow smiled and spread her wings.

She was excited about new adventures!
