Reminiscent of the beloved short stories of Rudyard Kipling, “Grumble and the Sharing School” transports young readers to a magical school. When children struggle to share toys, the kind teacher, Zephyria, bumpy green Grumble, and a tiny butterfly fairy work together to transform the classroom into a place of laughter and friendship.
This is an adaptation of “The Butterfly That Stamped,” one of the classic short stories of Rudyard Kipling found in his book Just So Stories.
Once upon a time, there was a magic school. It was full of colors: red, yellow, green and blue. The school had sparkling walls and floors that changed colors like a rainbow!
The kind teacher named Zephyria loved to sing happy songs.
She had a friend called Grumble. Grumble was green and bumpy, like a troll! He liked to tell funny jokes that made everyone giggle.
The boys and girls learned to make rainbow swirls and sing happy songs with Zephyria. But sometimes, they didn’t share their toys.
One day, a little girl kept all the pink building blocks to herself. Another time, a boy wouldn’t let anyone else ride the toy unicorn.
This made Zephyria and Grumble feel sad.
A tiny butterfly fairy lived in the school’s garden. Her wings shimmered and sparkled. “I can do big magic!” she said, waving her tiny wand.
Zephyria and Grumble had an idea.
They asked the butterfly to help the children learn to share. The butterfly nodded and flew around the school.
She sprinkled her magic dust everywhere. Whoosh! The school was different!
All the toys began to glow and dance! The building blocks rolled around, inviting everyone to play.
The toy unicorn neighed happily, wanting all the children to have a turn. The children began to share and play together.
They took turns with the big red ball, laughing as they rolled it to each other. They shared paintbrushes to make a big, beautiful picture together.
Grumble smiled and said, “Good job, everyone!” Zephyria sang a friendship song. The butterfly flew around, her wings twinkling with joy.
The magic school became full of laughter and kindness.
